"Meri's Miracle" JDRF walk to cure diabetes

Syringe

We believe that syringes like this one will NOT have to be a daily part of Meri's life, forever.  We believe that a CURE will be found for Type 1 Diabetes.  We are thankful for all of the doctors, nurses & scientists working daily to make this reality.  We believe in supporting their efforts every way we know how.  And we need your help!

Like many kids this summer, Meri is having a "little" lemonade stand this summer.  The flyer from our local CVS Pharmacy (where Meri asked to have her stand) is shown here.  If you are in the area, be sure to stop by.  If not, why not consider sending in a donation to her site (or a walker in your area).  Thanks for your help in finding a cure!

Meri was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes November 7, 2004.  She gets 6 shots of insulin each day.  She pricks her finger a minimum of 4 times each day to check her blood sugar.  At least once a week (usually more often) we check her blood sugar at midnight and 3 am.  If it is low in the middle of the night we have to wake her enough to get her to have some juice or milk to drink, along with a little snack.  In Meri's words, "Diabetes is not too much fun."
